WHO ARE WE?

HARVESTERS MINISTRIES INC

We are people from different ethnicities and backgrounds, who have accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts, and commissioned to go! As the verse says in St. John 9:4, we know that we must work while it is day, for the night is coming when no man can work. We are commissioned in Matthew 28: 19 – 20 to go and “teach all nations”. Sharing the good news that God sent his only son, Jesus, down to earth to die for our sins, that we might have eternal life with Him, is something we must all do. This is what we have been commissioned, as far across the globe as He has destined for us to go.

JOHN AND ARNETTA MAJOR

The Majors have been married since 1988. They received their licenses and ordinations as ministers and missionaries through their independent church in Davenport, Iowa where they grew up.

Four days after their marriage they began serving together in missions, both foreign and domestic. Their travels have taken them to: Brazil, Mexico, Haiti and Sudan.

Their three boys - Jonathan, Justin, Joshua – all have foreign and domestic missions experience, a sincere love for God and a passion to serve. The Major family lived and worked fulltime in Belo Horizonte, Brazil; where they learned to speak fluent Portuguese and conversational Spanish. While in Brazil they worked with street children and adults, under the umbrella of Youth With A Mission (YWAM); an international, interdenominational Mission board with bases in more than 170 countries. Co-founders of HMI, John is serving as President and CEO and Arnetta is serving as Executive Director.

KASSAUNDRA HESTER

Kassaundra Hester - was born in Davenport, IA, to a mother who dedicated her life to serving the Lord.  Most of her younger years were spent attending church, school, and running track in a skirt.  She obtained a full-ride athletic scholarship to attend Truman State University (formerly Northeast Missouri State University) where she became the Division II National Champion in the 400-meter hurdles.  Graduating with a degree in business, her success on the track continued throughout her career.  She currently resides in Raleigh, NC, where she works for Duke University as a SR Director in Finance.  Kassaundra is serving as Treasurer of HMI.

CHERYL MAJOR

Cheryl Major - was born in Joliet, IL. At the age of nine her family (parents plus five siblings) relocated to Davenport, Iowa; where she lived most of her life. Cheryl was greatly loved and influenced by her mother (a Pediatric nurse and church organist) and grandmother; both of whom encouraged her to give her heart to God at the young age of 12 years old. Sunday school teacher, choir member, communion server and various church outreach groups in the community were amongst Cheryl’s activities.

Cheryl holds an Associate’s degree in Sign Language Interpreter from St Paul College in MN. She has worked at several banks, currently lives in NC and works for the Corporate Payroll Services Department at Duke University. She has a love for cooking, baking, gardening, theatre and especially her many nieces and nephews. Her passion and prayer is to do missions and “reach the hungry souls throughout the world that do not know Jesus Christ as their personal savior”.

Her favorite Scripture: Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. Cheryl is serving as Fundraising Manager of HMI.
